New logo for HardscapeSTL.com

We are well underway with the creation of a new website for hardscapeSTL.com. It is due for launch early in the new year and will be a great resource for home owners in the St Louis area looking to upgrade their hardscape - a new patio, wall, walkway, driveway or maybe even an outdoor kitchen.

Here is a sneak peak at the new logo.

New Logo for St Louis Investment Company

Here is one of our latest logo projects and a great testimonial from the client:-

"Wonderful job. I think this represents a wonderful graphical representation of what Chrysalis is trying to portray. The color green is the color of growth, nature and money. The logo with the circle transforming into a diamond presents a wonderful embodiment for what Chrysalis offers. Thanks for all your help in this."

Do you have a "home made" logo?

In my years as a graphic/web designer I have had my share of projects where my requirement was to fix what was not working... whether it be a web site full of broken links or a logo which is not in a format suitable for a particular application.

Most of the fixer-up projects currently coming across my desk are "home made logos" Very often I encounter logos that have been created for a particuar application, e.g. a web site where a low resolution design (72dpi) is king. A client wanting to use the logo in print application now ruuns into problems since low resolution is not acceptable. The only option is to re-create the logo.

If you have a home made logo and are running into problems visit us at www.indigoimage.com to see how we can help.

Shopping for a logo designer?

My tool of choice for logo design is Adobe Illustrator.

Adobe illustrator creates vector artwork .. for the technically interested it defines each creation in terms of mathematical points and paths.

This means that the creations can be scaled with no loss of clarity .... a must for any logo. If you are in the process of shopping for a logo check to see the format in which the logo will be delivered.

A .ai or .eps file will mean that your logo is being designed as vector art.

Here at Indigo Image, logos we create are delivered in a number of formats including .ai and .eps.

Logo Design Essential

A quick tip today.

When having a logo designed always ensure it is being created as a vector illustration as opposed to a pixel illustration.

Designed as a piece of vector art it will be scaleable without any loss of clarity. If designed as a pixel illustration this will not be the case ..enlarging it beyond the size at which it was designed will cause loss of detail and a general fuzzy effect.

Here at Indigo Image we always design logos as vector art.

A brief history of the logo

Logos first appeared in the 19th century as the industrial revolution and printing processes gained momentum.

Up until this time products had been generally made locally and on a small scale often by hand. With the invention of machines the same products could be manufactued faster and cheaper. It was the first time products were made on a large scale in a central location and distrubuted far and wide.

For manufacturers to succeed in this newly competitive and anonymous marketplace it was important that their products could be easily differentiated, but at that time, a significant part of the population was still illiterate. The solution was to include a symbol, sign, or emblem on their products, labels and packages, so that all the buyers could easily recognize the product they wanted. Hence the birth of the modern logo!

A new logo design for Beadazzlin!

The owner of Beadazzlin!, a producer of high end jewelry, recently contacted us to re-design thier logo. The original logo was professionally designed, but they had never been happy with it... in fact their comment was yuk!

The company needed a high end yet dynamic image to reflect the high end nature of their products.

We produced a number of concepts and worked with a number of fonts and colors.

This is the final result.
