A Lancaster Farmhouse Decor Company

I am delighted to have just secured my first local client, In the Barn Treasures, since relocating to the Lancaster PA area.

They offer a wonderful collection of rustic/farmhouse/primitive home decor pieces but need a little help getting their website performing well in the search engines and engaging their users. Helping small businesses succeed in this arena is a real passion of mine and I am really looking forward to working with them.

I connected with them in rather a non traditional way.

A few times a week I take a walk up the hill behind my house and after huffing and puffing up quite an incline I am greeted by a stunningly beautiful red barn. Of course I had to photograph it and it was one of the first beautiful photographs I featured in my new blog category  “The Eye of the Lancaster Web Designer“.

While doing some internet marketing for Indigo Image, I noticed on Google maps the barn was flagged with a location marker. Intrigued I clicked on it and learned about In the Barn Treasures. Visiting their website I could see it needed a little help so I contacted the owners to introduce myself and also sent them the photo I had taken of their barn. It opened the door to a meeting …

The star mounted on the barn is know as a Barnstar and decorations of this kind are considered good luck. Certainly good luck for the Lancaster Pa Web Designer!

New website for Interior Designer

It’s a great compliment when I get repeat business from a client, particularly when I have just moved over 700 hundred miles away from them. As the Lancaster PA web designer, I will do whatever it takes!

I have been working with interior designer, Suzanne Falk, for a number of years now and helped to bring her vision of an online interior design experience alive, with the creation of Interior Design 2 Go. While the website offers a budget friendly approach to hiring an interior designer, Suzanne needed an additional portfolio site to feature her custom design work, particularly as she is currently getting quite a bit of attention in the media.

Launched today is her brand new web site –suzannefalkinteriordesign.com

The site is a very minimalist but powerful presentation of her work.

Suzanne is delighted with it

“Wow, this looks amazing. So excited! You did a fabulous job, can’t thank you enough”

I am so grateful for my clients who continue to “follow” me around the country!

Exploring Lancaster – The Eye of the Lancaster Web Designer

Moving and relocating a company is hard work … I will not lie. However I have moved around quite a bit all my life and while there are pros and cons about every place I have ever lived I always like to concentrate on the pros.

Lancaster Pennsylvania is absolutely beautiful. It has rolling hills, picturesque farms and red barns dotted all over the place. I love to snap photographs of the delights I see while out an about and as a result have started a new blog category …The Eye of the Lancaster web designer . It will feature fun and beautiful photos of things which catch my design eye.

Enjoy!

Indigo Image is Moving to Lancaster PA

This week marks a 700+ mile move for web design company, Indigo Image. We are relocating from Chicago to Lancaster Pennsylvania.

This is not the first time we have moved. We relocated from St Louis in 2010 and quickly established a healthy client base here with clever re-optimization of our website and lots of strategic networking. Moving has never meant we abandon our clients. Although face to face meeting are a lot harder we go the extra mile with email and phone communication – our move from Chicago from St Louis saw no loss of clients and we strive to have the same success with our move to Lancaster PA.

We are looking forward to meeting business owners in Lancaster looking for a creative partner they can truly rely on. From web design to graphic design, internet marketing and hosting services, we provide the small to medium sized business owner everything they need to have  a successful internet presence.

New Web Site for Dog Bath in a Pack

Launched today is a brand new website for Dog Bath in a Pack. www.dogbathinapack.com

dog bath in a pack website

The site was designed to promote and sell a novel wipe to clean up dogs on the go. Mucky paws or worse can be easily cleaned up with these oversized wipes that come individually packaged.

We created a very appealing look feel for this site…who doesn’t love a sweet puppy and sprinkled the excellent product testimonials throughout. The order processing is carried out by bodywipecompany.com (who distribute the product) and to ensure consistency between the two site we used a similar color palette and layout. The coupon and chat functionality across both site is also identical.

A custom blog was also created for the site for product marketing.

New Logo for Chicago Small Business

I started working recently with a new Chicago small business that has developed a novel way for medical staff to stay warm in the operating room. I had no idea that OR’s were kept so chilly and that many theater staff really suffer in these frigid conditions.

We are in the process of creating a new website for their product, OPERATIONHEATJAC, but the project kicked off by creating a new logo.

The logo conveys a sense of warmth with both a warm orange color choice and a stylized flame incorporated into the design.

The website will be launched the beginning of 2017… see here

New Web site for Burns Recovered

Launched this week is a brand new look for the Burns Recovered website
burns recovered non profit website

I have been working, pro bono, for this not for profit organization for the last six years. In that time I have help them move with the times, updating a very dated website and then making the web site responsive and even integrating a new logo.

This latest update was driven by the old website becoming very cluttered as it had become updated. The new look offers a much cleaner simpler look and features the stunning photographs from the book published by Burns Recovered “Beauty Is…” The site offers very clear call to actions and performs beautifully across all devices.

Here is what Lynn Heulsmann, Executive Director of Burns Recovered had to say

“Indigo Image created a dynamic, professional and engaging website for Burns Recovered/Midwest Children’s Burn Camp.  In addition to the site being desktop and mobile accessible, it is aesthetically pleasing  and we are thrilled with the outcome.”

New Website for Motor Appliance Corporation

We have been working with Motor Appliance Corporation for many years… mostly on the graphic design of technical products flyers and precision design of overlay stickers for their products.

The re-design of their website was a project that had been on the back-burner for some time but just last week we launched a brand new shiny site for them. Visit it at macmc.com

macmc responsice website

Web re-design projects are always really satisfying particularly when you take a look back. Here is the original site. It had served them well for many years but was looking rather dated and wasn’t working well on mobile devices

website redesign

The new website was built on the WordPress platform which will give the client much more freedom to self maintain. We offer full training on using WordPress in the form of screenshot videos in which we walk through a specific task. This approach works really well as they can be viewed and revisited as many times as as required.

The site itself is very clean, with power pops of red in keeping with the branding elements and is fully responsive.

The Power of Before and After Photographs

We are all suckers for before and after transformations no matter what the subject.

Why?

Because before and after photographs engage. They grab attention offering potential and possibility and show us what can be done

Take a look at these before and after photos

Cheap > Expensive

cheap-expensive

Amateur > Professional

Drab > Fab

before after tattoo wipe

Trash > Treasure

before-trash
after-treasure

Without one word of copy we have told a story in each set of photos – so important in the micro attention span of today’s website users. We have offered a level of engagement to someone who has an outdated website and maybe looking for a re-design, someone who has a faded tattoo and even someone looking to create a piece of art from trash. Granted it is an odd mix to have on a single page but you get the picture.

Advantages

This engagement factor can lead to

  • A better understanding of a product which in turn can improve sales conversions
  • Impart a level of expertise
  • An improved connection with your visitors
  • The increased possibility of your content being shared on social media and all the upsides associated with that – increased traffic, better organic search engine placement, more quality back links etc.
  • Repeat visits to a website – visitors experiencing good interesting content on a site are more likely to return to it in the future

No matter what type of business you are in, before and after photographs are an excellent addition to your marketing efforts.

Including Before and After Photos in Your Marketing Mix

For products or services that result in a visual change – think web design, interior design, weight loss, fashion, makeup … the before and after photos are obvious – a screenshot of a website before and after re-design, a face with and without makeup, a sofa with and without pillows.

But say your business or service offers no real visual elements. How can before and after photos help and how do you go about creating them?

Here you can create scenarios which represent a situation with and without your product or service comparing Good (with service/product) vs Bad (without).

For example your are accountant who specializes in working with small businesses- how about a photograph of a shoe box messily filled with old receipts and invoices with the business owner pulling their hair out and another photo showing a neatly organized ledger and completed tax return with the business owner with a well groomed hair-do. A little creative thought can go a long way in dreaming up good before and after scenarios.
